What is a DO?

DOs, or Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, are fully-licensed physicians who practice in all 50 states, all branches of the military and in all medical specialties. While the basic medical school curriculum is similar to allopathic (MD) schools, DOs are also trained to diagnose and treat musculoskeletel problems using their hands.

Osteopathic philosophy maintains that the human body is a unified system with a natural tendency towards health. However, sometimes dysfunctions occur in the muscles and joints that interfere with a person's well-being. Using a variety of techniques known as osteopathic manipulation, a DO is able to enhance the ability of the body to heal itself and restore normal function.

While this "hands on" approach is a trademark of osteopathic physicians, they also utilize all the modern procedures and technologies for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Comments from our patients:

"For nearly three years, I had almost constant aching in my joints and muscles that you were able to erase in a few days. Thank you, thank you, thank you."

—Penny L, Fibromyalgia patient

"I have had great success with osteopathic manipulation for my chronic back pain. Just two treatments brought me months of relief. Dr. Angier did an excellent job diagnosing my problem, treating it, and allowing me to return to my normal activities."
